ODBC Setup

Healthcare Facilities Data System ODBC Setup Instructions


  1. Go to Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools, double click "Data Sources (ODBC)"

  2. Under "User DSN" tab, look for "facilities", highlight and hit "Remove" button.  If “facilities” is not on list, proceed to step 3.

  3. Click "Add" button, choose "SQL Server" as driver

  4. Type the following into the three text boxes on screen:
    • Name: facilities
    • Description: ODBC Data Source for HQESDB2
    • Server: HQESDB2

  5. Note: Effective Sept. 2009, most users will now be using their Windows login instead of their old SQL Server login. Therefore, please follow the below instructions accordingly.

    1. For Windows Users:
      • Click on the first option "With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID"

    2. For SQL Server Users:
      • Click the second option "With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user"

  6. Click "Client Configuration" button, choose "TCP/IP" as Network Libraries, type the following into the two text boxes on screen:
    • Computer Name: 161.223.220.78
    • Port: 1433 (You may have to uncheck the “Dynamically determine port” box)

    Click OK

  7. Upon clicking OK, the previous screen will appear.  Type your Login name and password, click Next

  8. Check the box that have "change default database to Facil", click Next, then click finish

  9. On the next screen, keep all defaults, click Finish

  10. Click Test Data Source on the next screen

  11. Click OK three times to exit setup
